How do I link my chat room to my web site?
Login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click on the Administration Tab. Click the Access Room/Add to Site link. The HTML code for the link to your chat room will be emailed to you or you may use the link provided to a pre-made login form that you can customize.
Can I use my chat room on more than one web site I own?
Yes, you may use anything that comes with your plan or package on any web site you own. You may not, however, sell or give away anything to a third party. If, for instance, you are a web designer who opens a Web Tools account, you cannot purchase additional chat rooms, discussion forums, etc. and put them on your customers' web sites. Instead, you must open a separate account for each customer.
Can I use my domain?
Yes. Signup for the Use Your Domain Extra and we will setup your domain/subdomain to be used with your chat room.
How do I create my chat room?
Login to your Chat Room Manager. Click the Create Chat Room link. Follow the instructions.
How do I add sounds?
Login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click the Setup Room Tab. Click the Add Banners/Images/Sounds link. You will now be in the Chat Room Upload Utility. For
  • File Type: select Sound from the drop-down menu.
  • Upload File: Locate your sound file on your computer. There must *not* be any spaces in the file name.
  • Description: Enter the name or description of your sound. It must be one word. Do *not* add spaces between words or special characters (e.g. goodmorning). The description will display in your room.
  • (The Destination URL is only applicable if you are uploading a banner.)

    How do I kick or ban a user? What is the difference?
    To kick a user, login to the Administrative Chat Room as the Administrator or into the room as a Monitor or Moderator. Select the username and click the [Kick] button at the bottom of the chat room applet. To ban a user, login to the Administrative Chat Room as the Administrator or into the room as a Monitor or Moderator. Click the [Ban User] button and select the username from the list of users that will open in a new window. (Please allow a minute for this to load if you have a large user list.) Please note that banning prevents a user from entering the room. If the user is in the room when you ban him/her, you will also have to kick him/her out.
    How do I register or add users?
    You can either add users one at a time or add serveral at once. To add users individually, login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click the Manage Users Tab. Click the Add Individual Users link. To bulk upload a list of users, click the Manage Users Tab and then click the Bulk Import link.
    How do I require my users to login with a username and password?
    Login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click the Setup Room Tab. Click the Registration Settings link. Select Registration is required and Save.
    How do I assign my room a password?
    Login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click the Setup Room Tab. Click the Room Password (optional) link. Enter a password for your room and Save.
    How do I add a Monitor?
    Login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click the Manage Users Tab. Click the View User List link. Select the user you want to designate as a Monitor and click the [Monitor] button at the bottom of the page.
    Where can I find the list of registered users to my chat room, to view, delete or edit their user type?
    Login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click the Manage Users Tab. Click the View User List link. On the following page you will see your list of registered users and can designate their user types.

    How do I view the chat room transcripts?
    Login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click the Administration Tab. Click the View Transcripts link.
    How do I add voice to my room?
    Login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click the Setup Room Tab. Click the Add Voice link. The voice feature will automatically be added to your room.
    How do I enable voice conferencing?
    Login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click the Setup Room Tab. Click the Turn On Conferencing link.
    How do I improve the voice quality?
    Our Voice Chat is 100% web-based. No downloads are required. The tradeoff for having a Voice Chat room that does not require a download, is that the quality of the voice chat will not be perfect. Voice Chat, even when downloads are necessary, does not sound like a telephone conversation.
    Things which will impact how good the voice quality is for users include:
  • The speed of their Internet connection
  • The reliability of their Internet connection
  • How up-to-date their sound card is
  • How up-to-date their microphone is
  • Whether or not they have the most recent drivers for their sound card and microphone installed on their computer
  • Their physical proximity to our servers in Texas, USA
  • How many other people are in the room voice chatting at the same time
  • Whether they are behind a corporate firewall
  • Whether they have a personal firewall running on their computer
  • Whether they have properly installed Sun's Java
  • Whether they have the most recent version of Sun's Java installed
  • Whether the version of Sun's Java they have installed is the most appropriate for their operating system and browser
  • Whether Sun's Java is running on their computer
  • Whether they have installed security or privacy protection software that is interfering with the Java application
  • How do I customize my chat room and the page my chat room displays on?
    Login to your Chat Room Manager. Select your room. On the following page, click the Setup Room Tab. Click the Applet Settings link.
    Select your room's features, such as:
  • Allowing access to transcripts
  • Displaying emoticons, sounds or avatars
  • Allow ignoring, whispering or private chatting
  • Enable file sharing
  • Customize the chat room applet:
  • Font size
  • The height and width of the applet
  • The background and foreground colors
  • Give users the option to 'float' their applet
  • Click the Setup Room Tab. click the Customize link. Complete the fields for:
  • Background Color
  • Link Colors, including Active and Visited
  • Body Tag Attributes
  • Font Type, Color and Size. Save.
    Click the Customize link again and click the Create/Modify Code link next to <Head> Tags to enter custom Head Tags for your chat room's web pages.
    Click the Customize link again. Click the Create/Modify Code link next to Extreme Customization to enter custom HTML code for your chat room's web pages.
