LISTSERV Online - Browser Problem
|
| Is your browser attempting to download the wa.exe file? |
The LISTSERV® web interface uses a file called wa.exe. If you have installed a download helper program (also called a download plugin) on your computer, it may be taking over. Instead of your browser running the file (which is what should happen), the download helper is trying to download the file. This is because virtually all download helpers are configured to download .exe files.
There are three common download helpers that may be causing your problem: Smart Download; GetRight; and FlashGet. If you do not know whether or not you have one of these programs installed on your computer, look for them on your computer by doing a search (Windows/Start/Find/Files or Folders).
Here are "fixes" for each of these programs:
SmartDownload
Start/Programs/NetscapeSmartDownload/Disable (to temporarily disable the program)
GetRight
(option 1) Right click GetRight icon in icon tray. Select Options/GetRightConfiguration. Select General/Monitor. To the "Ignore all clicks for these server(s)" box, add "listserv.nethelps.com" and "*nethelps.com"
(option 2) Right click GetRight icon in icon tray. Select Options/GetRightConfiguration. Uncheck the "Clipboard and Click Monitoring" box (to temporarily disable the program)
FlashGet
Right click FlashGet icon in icon tray. Check "Disable Browser Monitoring" |
